📜 Valegate Marketplace Guidelines

These guidelines outline the rules all marketplace participants must follow when operating stores, stalls, or trade stands on the server. They ensure fairness, consistency, and a safe trading environment for all players.

Failure to follow these rules may result in warnings, fines, or removal of your market stall.

1. General Rules

1. Respect All Server Rules – The global Valegate rules apply in the marketplace at all times.
2. No Scamming – All prices, trades, and deals must be honoured exactly as advertised.
3. Transparency – Clearly label items and prices. Misleading or vague signs are not allowed.
4. Respect Other Players’ Plots – Do not alter, damage, or block visibility of another player’s store.
5. No Offensive Builds or Names – Store names, signs, and decorations must follow community standards.

2. Store Setup & Maintenance

1. Plot Size Limits – You may only build within your assigned plot boundaries. Overhanging builds, banners, or signs outside your plot are not allowed.
2. Store Activity Requirement – Stores must remain stocked and active. Empty or abandoned plots may be reclaimed after 21 days of inactivity.
3. Lighting & Safety – Keep your stall well-lit and mob-proof to avoid hazards in the marketplace.
4. Signage – Use clear, easy-to-read signs for shop name, owner name, and item pricing.

3. How to Make a Shop

You can create a store using Redstone mechanics if you wish, but we highly recommend using ChestShops for simplicity and security.

Setting Up a ChestShop

1. Choose an Output Chest
   • Look at the chest where you want your diamonds to be collected.
   • Run the command: /setoutputchest (This is where all payments from your shop will be stored.)
2. Place Your Selling Chest
   • Put the items you want to sell inside.
   • Attach a sign to the chest.
3. Format the Sign
   • Line 1: [shop] (exactly like this, with brackets)
   • Line 2: Number of items per sale (just the number, e.g., 1)
   • Line 3: Price in diamonds (just the number, e.g., 25)

1. Done! Your shop will now sell the set amount of items for the listed price in diamonds, and payments will go to your output chest.

4. Pricing & Selling Rules

1. Fair Pricing – You may set your own prices, but extreme price manipulation or intentional market sabotage is not allowed. - If unsure about the limits, ask staff.
2. Consistent Stock – Items must be priced consistently within your own store (no selling the same item for different prices in the same shop).
3. Banned Items – You cannot sell items which have been received unfairly (e.g., items obtained through exploits or cheating).
4. Custom Trades – If offering special deals, they must be explained in full and visible to the buyer.

5. Advertising Rules

1. No Chat Spam – You may advertise your shop in global chat at most once every 15 minutes.
2. Signage & Billboards – Public advertising signs must be placed only in designated areas.
3. Honest Promotion – No false claims or “bait-and-switch” tactics.

6. Enforcement

• First Offense: Verbal or written warning.
• Second Offense: Fine or temporary shop closure.
• Repeated Offenses: Permanent loss of market plot and possible ban from trading.
